Business Visitor Worker Status Visa in Canada
The Business Visitor Worker Status Visa allows individuals to enter and remain in Canada as business visitors if they are visiting the country temporarily solely for engaging in business-related activities. These individuals are not entering the Canadian labor market but are involved in international business endeavors.
There are various reasons why individuals may visit Canada as business visitors:
Attending conferences, conventions, or trade fairs
Participating in board of directors’ meetings.
Engaging in commercial or advertising purposes.
Providing after-sales service as per warranty or sales agreement.
Supervising the installation or dismantling of machinery or equipment purchased outside Canada.
Conducting training activities for prospective users or maintenance staff for equipment acquired outside Canada.
Receiving training from a Canadian parent company for work outside Canada
Training employees of a foreign company contracting Canadian companies
Business visitors encompass individuals attending business meetings, trade conventions, non-selling public exhibitions, or engaging in the procurement of Canadian goods and services. Additionally, certain categories may include individuals providing after-sales services, foreign government officials not accredited to Canada, and certain foreign nationals in the commercial production industry such as the advertising or film sectors.
Business Visitor Worker Status Process:
Business visitors are advised to ensure they have all the necessary documents ready upon arrival in Canada for their business purposes. If the documents provided at the point of entry are deemed sufficient, entry into Canada is typically granted without delays.
Usually, business visitors only need to briefly demonstrate they possess the necessary documents to prove their business intentions. If a business visitor is required to obtain an electronic travel authorization (eTA) or a visa to enter Canada, they must submit all the required data and/or documents prior to their arrival.
To expedite processing, business visitors should have all the essential documents readily available to present at the point of entry.
In some cases, business visitors may be asked to provide fingerprints and a photo (biometrics), particularly if requested when applying for a visitor visa. Biometrics data is a standard part of the process in such cases.
It’s important to distinguish between business visitors and business people. Business people come to Canada to engage in work activities within the country under a free trade agreement.
